WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RADON
What Is Radon?
Radon is a radioactive gas that is colorless, odorless and tasteless. It is formed by the breakdown of uranium, a natural radioactive material found in soil, rock and groundwater. Radon escapes from the ground into the outdoor air. It is diluted to low concentrations and is not a concern. However, radon that enters an enclosed space, such as a home, can sometimes accumulate to high levels. Radon breaks down to form additional radioactive particles called “progeny” that can contaminate the air you breathe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for radon.
If you find that you have high radon levels, there are ways to fix a radon problem. Even very high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels.
EPA recommends that you test your home before putting it on the market and, if necessary, lower your radon levels. Save the test results and all information you have about steps that were taken to fix any problems. This could be a positive selling point.
The amount of radon varies over time and from room to room in a home.
A range of practical and cost effective well proven solutions are used by Affordable Radon, LLC to help reduce radon levels in existing buildings and to prevent radon ingress into new and existing buildings.
High Radon Levels Can Be Reduced
EPA recommends that you take action to reduce your home’s indoor radon
levels if your radon test result is 4 pCi/L or higher. It is better to correct a radon problem before placing your home on the market because then you have more time to address a radon problem.
A variety of methods can be used to reduce radon in homes. Sealing cracks and other openings in the foundation is a basic part of most approaches to radon reduction. EPA does not recommend the use of sealing alone to limit radon entry. Sealing alone has not been shown to lower radon levels significantly or consistently. In most cases, a system with a vent pipe(s) and fan(s) is used to reduce radon. These “sub-slab depressurization” systems do not require major changes to your home. Similar systems can also be installed in homes with crawl spaces. These systems prevent radon gas from entering the home from below the concrete floor
and from outside the foundation.
Five year warranty on radon fans and lifetime warranty on workmanship.
Posted on Lisa HuftalenDecember 24, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My old Radon fan was bad, and the noise was unbearable. It started vibrating the house, and I could feel in on the floor and on my furniture. It was December 23rd. I sent texts everywhere, but only Affordable Radon came through for me! It was fixed on Christmas Eve! Thank you!Posted on Chris FayNovember 11, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend this company. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. But perhaps most impressive is that in a specialty such as this, where safety and compliance drive the need for customer demand— which lends to unreasonably high prices – Affordable Radon is, exactly as the name says, reasonable in their pricing. You’ll have no regrets using them.Posted on Nicholas SoutoJune 20, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Used them when they came and put their system in when I bought my house haven’t had any trouble yet. It’s been almost a year. I just called today though nobody has answered or called me back because my radon system is down and has been down now for two or three days I don’t know what’s going on with it. I could have something do with the power going out. It could have something to do with the system itself, I have no idea, but until somebody calls me back, I’ll leave this five stars up because they were good and I like the five-year warranty on workmanship on the system itself on everything. They are great but I will change the review. I’ll let you guys know. I’ll keep you updated if I don’t get a call back or if I don’t get this fixed within the next 24 to 48 hours at most because we have a dog children and we have People with cancer and people with other things here that should not be exposed to this otherwise if you need a radon Fan this is the place to get it!!! Fast, easy, efficient, and very Cheap for the qualityPosted on JK SCMay 6, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paul and his team did an amazing job on our new radon system. He made it look as inconspicuous as possible rather than having the piping on the outside of the house. Our Radon levels were as high as 9 and consistently above 5 before having our new system installed. Now the levels are 1 or less. Highly recommend!Posted on Beth CliffDecember 4, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My roof was leaking from a radon system that was installed by a different company many years ago. I called and got an immediate response during a busy holiday week. Paul came out and put a temporary seal on because heavy rain was expected. He returned a few days later to put the new permanent seal on. Really appreciate the great service and quick response from the team. Thanks Kerri, Paul, and Josh!Posted on Laura MurphyNovember 13, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really, really happy with this company. When our radon began spiking (above 5), I called and Carrie (sorry if I misspelled!) was great - she suggested I monitor for several days to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and didn't push any services before then. When our levels continued to be high - between 5 and 7 regularly - Carrie scheduled us in and gave a run-down of what the services and costs would be. The installation process took a few hours, everything was explained to me clearly, and our radon levels haven't gone above 0.6 since then. Would recommend this company to anyone :-)Posted on Michael CastnerOctober 10, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Installer was knowledgable and efficient.Posted on Roswell UnderwoodMarch 7, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend Paul for installation and advice for radon mitigation and systems.Posted on Rad SlayFebruary 22, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a concern about Radon in our home. I purchased a Radon detector, and it began spiking above 4pC. I reached out to Paul Baeder. Today, he and his team installed the Radon mitigation system, and the readings have been consistently dropping since the system came online. They did a great job on the installation!Posted on Jonathan OliveraSeptember 25, 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very informative and honest. Not many contractors like this anymore. I highly recommend this company when you need them. Communication is clear with no sugar coating or high pressure sales tactics. THANK YOU!
